OpenAI–G42 Abu Dhabi AI Megacluster

OpenAI and the United Arab Emirates-based G42 have unveiled plans for a 5 gigawatt AI megacluster in Abu Dhabi that would dwarf existing hyperscale campuses. The partners expect to sequence construction, bringing roughly 200 megawatts online within the first year while continuing to add capacity toward the 5 GW goal. Given the unprecedented electricity demand, the project will require new generation or significant grid upgrades to secure power, and is positioned as a cornerstone of OpenAI’s frontier model training roadmap.
