Microsoft — Indonesia AI Cloud

In April 2024, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the company’s largest single investment in Indonesia in its 29-year history. The $1.7 billion USD project focuses on building new data center infrastructure to bring advanced cloud and AI capabilities to Indonesia. The country currently hosts the third-largest GitHub developer community in the Asia-Pacific region, making it a critical market for AI tools and development. Microsoft’s investment also includes a commitment to train 840,000 Indonesians in AI skills as part of a broader ASEAN-wide skilling initiative.
