The AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region represents a long-term $5 billion USD investment by Amazon Web Services in Indonesia over 15 years. Since its launch in late 2021, the region has rapidly expanded to meet the soaring demand for AI and cloud services in Southeast Asia’s largest economy. The infrastructure consists of three Availability Zones, each with isolated power, cooling, and security. In 2024–2025, AWS significantly deepened its AI capabilities in Indonesia, providing local access to specialized AI chips like Trainium and Inferentia to support the country’s vibrant ecosystem of over 8,000 startups and numerous enterprises. The investment is projected to contribute $10.9 billion to Indonesia’s GDP by 2036.
