The “Data Center Valley” in Ekibastuz is a national priority project launched by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of AI and Digital Development to create Central Asia’s largest AI hub. Spanning 1,400 hectares, the campus aims for a 1 GW capacity, leveraging low-cost energy from the adjacent Ekibastuz GRES-1 and GRES-2 power plants. The initial 100 MW phase is under construction as of early 2026, with a target investment of $30 billion. The facility is designed to attract global hyperscalers for regional AI training and inference, supported by the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic cable project to reduce network latency to European hubs.
