Meta Hyperion AI Data Center (Louisiana)

Meta is investing between $10 billion and $27 billion to develop “Hyperion,” a massive AI infrastructure project in Richland Parish, Louisiana. Spanning 2,250 acres, the site is designed to function as a “Titan Cluster”—a specialized AI factory for training next-generation Large Language Models like Llama 4.

While the master plan targets a staggering 5 gigawatts (GW) of compute capacity, initial phases are supported by a partnership with Entergy Louisiana to build dedicated natural gas plants. Long-term, Meta has secured 6.6 GW of carbon-free energy through landmark nuclear power agreements with TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra Corp to support its global AI ambitions. Construction began in late 2024, with the first phase expected to go live in late 2026. The project includes $300 million in local infrastructure upgrades but has faced local scrutiny due to significant construction-related traffic and utility disruptions in the Holly Ridge area.
