Sberbank — Balakovo AI Data Center

Sberbank’s Balakovo facility is a massive regional AI data center located in the Saratov region. Featuring 7 modules and 3,500 server racks, the site has an estimated capacity of approximately 50 MW. Each rack is engineered to support high-density AI hardware (12-15 kW per rack), specifically for Sber’s GigaChat models and automated risk systems. The campus is a central part of Sberbank’s 2024–2026 strategy to transition into a “technology-first” company, with billions of rubles allocated for AI infrastructure. The facility leverages its proximity to existing energy hubs to provide the stable, high-volume power required for large-scale machine learning and national financial services.
