Google — Christmas Island AI Data Node

Google is developing a specialized 7 MW AI data node on Christmas Island, a remote Australian territory in the Indian Ocean. Linked to a major cloud agreement with the Australian Department of Defence, the facility will serve as a critical edge node for AI-enabled maritime monitoring and command-and-control operations. The project is supported by the “Bosun” subsea cable connecting the island to Darwin, ensuring high-speed, secure connectivity for strategic AI workloads in the Indo-Pacific region.
