AWS — Mississippi AI Data Center (Ridgeland/Madison)
Madison, Madison County, United States
In January 2024, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a $10 billion investment to build two data center complexes in Madison County, Mississippi. This project represents the largest single capital investment in Mississippi’s history. The campuses, located in the Ridgeland and Madison areas, are expected to have a combined capacity of approximately 1.3 gigawatts (GW) at full buildout. The facilities are designed to support the massive compute requirements of generative AI, providing large-scale infrastructure for model training and inference. The project is expected to create at least 1,000 high-tech jobs and is supported by a partnership with local community colleges to train the state’s future tech workforce.
