Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Japan East region (Tokyo) is one of OCI’s major APAC deployments, offering GPU-intensive compute for AI training and inference workloads. Oracle has aggressively expanded its Japan presence — announcing a $8 billion investment in Japan AI cloud infrastructure over five years in 2024, driven by strong enterprise demand and Japan’s national AI strategy. The Tokyo region supports Oracle’s AI services including OCI Generative AI Service (powered by Cohere and Llama models), Oracle Analytics Cloud with AI, and enterprise AI deployments for major Japanese corporations. Japan’s government has designated AI as critical national infrastructure, and Oracle’s investment aligns with initiatives to reduce Japanese dependence on foreign AI infrastructure by building significant local capacity.
