Microsoft & OpenAI — Project Jupiter (New Mexico)
Santa Teresa, New Mexico, United States
“Project Jupiter” is a key site in the Microsoft-OpenAI “Stargate” infrastructure initiative, located in the Santa Teresa area of Doña Ana County, New Mexico. The planned 1 GW campus is designed to support the next generation of AI supercomputers, potentially hosting Nvidia’s “Vera Rubin” GPU clusters. Developed in partnership with BorderPlex Digital Assets and STACK Infrastructure, the site was chosen for its massive solar baseload potential and favorable grid balancing characteristics. It marks a strategic shift toward the U.S. southwest for future AI model training beyond earlier Blackwell-era clusters.
