Frankfurt is Europe’s premier internet exchange hub — home to DE-CIX, the world’s largest Internet Exchange Point — making Equinix Frankfurt the default interconnection point for European AI traffic. All major US hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta) colocate edge and peering infrastructure here, with AI inference traffic flowing through Equinix’s backbone. The campus has 180+ MW of total capacity across Frankfurt facilities. In 2024, Equinix announced xScale AI Campus expansions in Frankfurt targeting hyperscale AI training customers. Equinix powers 100% of its Frankfurt facilities through renewable energy PPAs from German and Nordic wind farms.
