AWS — Malaysia Cloud Region (Cyberjaya)
Cyberjaya, Greater Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Launched in August 2024, the AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region represents a $6 billion (RM25.5 billion) investment by Amazon Web Services over 15 years. The new region, based in Greater Kuala Lumpur (including major sites in Cyberjaya), consists of three Availability Zones, each with independent power, cooling, and security. The infrastructure is specifically designed for high-performance AI workloads, providing local access to AWS’s custom AI chips, including Trainium for model training and Inferentia for inference. The investment is expected to contribute approximately $12 billion to Malaysia’s GDP by 2038 and support over 3,500 jobs annually, anchoring Malaysia as a major hub for AI and cloud innovation in Southeast Asia.
