Polarise — Amberg AI Data Center
Amberg, Bavaria, Germany
Polarise is developing a 120 MW AI data center in Amberg (Unterallgäu), Bavaria, at the site of a former shortwave transmitter. The project is a cornerstone of the “European Sovereign AI” initiative, aiming to provide a locally-operated, GDPR-compliant alternative to US hyperscalers. The campus will be powered by a dedicated 120 MW green energy mix, including an existing 70 MWp solar park, 21 MW wind farm, and advanced battery storage systems in partnership with WV Energie AG. The facility will utilize modular “AI Pods” for rapid deployment, with full operations expected by mid-2027.
