Google-Kairos Power AI Data Center Initiative
Oak Ridge, United States, United States
Google has entered into a pioneering agreement with Kairos Power to harness nuclear reactors to supply energy for its AI data centers. Announced Monday, via a blog post, Google said the deal would mark the first corporate deal of its kind and enable a new carbon-free power supply to the U.S. electricity grid. While financial details remain undisclosed, Google has ordered six to seven small modular reactors, with the first due to be completed by 2030, and the remainder by 2035. The plans are pending approval by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission as well as local agencies.
