Amazon Web Services — Osaka Region (AP Northeast 3)
Osaka, Kansai, Japan
AWS expanded its Japan presence with the AP Northeast 3 Osaka Region, launched as a full multi-AZ region in March 2021 after operating as a Local Region since 2011. The Osaka region provides geographic redundancy for AWS Japan customers, the majority of whom use it for disaster recovery alongside the Tokyo region (AP Northeast 1). For AI workloads, Osaka hosts SageMaker and inference services with lower latency for Kansai and western Japan customers. Major Japanese enterprises including automotive, manufacturing, and financial services companies rely on Osaka for business continuity AI deployments. AWS has committed to 100% renewable energy in Japan through solar and wind PPAs.
