Microsoft — Chile Central AI Infrastructure
Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile
Launched in June 2025, the “Chile Central” region is Microsoft’s first data center region in Chile and a major hub for the Southern Cone. Part of the “Transforma Chile” initiative, the region consists of three independent Availability Zones located in the Santiago area, including a primary 68,000-square-meter facility in Quilicura. The infrastructure is specifically optimized for high-density AI workloads and provides sovereign data residency for Chile’s public and private sectors. Notably, the facilities operate on 100% renewable energy through a partnership with AES Andes and utilize a water-positive design with non-evaporative air-cooling systems.
